The Lexus ES is our default suggestion when a WhatsApp message reads “two of us, two big bags, landing at Terminal 3”. It sits in the middle of our business sedan range, a step up from the Camry and less formal than a Mercedes. The cabin is quiet enough to doze off in on the way to the hotel.
Who books a Lexus ES with driver in Dubai
Mostly people who want a proper car without making a statement. Solo business travellers heading to DIFC or Business Bay. Couples checking into a Palm Jumeirah hotel. A parent with two children and cabin bags. Hotel guests who want a calm ride to dinner in the Marina and back again later.
It also works well for hourly chauffeur hire around the city. The driver can park it in a tight hotel forecourt, and the higher seat makes getting in and out between stops easy. Nobody looks twice when you step out at a meeting.
What the rear seat is like
The current, eighth-generation ES is bigger than the car it replaced. Lexus quotes a wheelbase 3.1 inches longer, 1.4 inches more rear legroom and 0.4 inches more rear headroom, with higher hip points front and back, so you sit into the seat instead of dropping down onto it. Laminated side glass keeps road noise out, and the ES 350h hybrid keeps engine revs low in everyday driving (Lexus press release).
Plenty of ES sedans on UAE chauffeur fleets are still the previous generation, usually the ES 300h. The back seat there is a little tighter. Three adults across the rear is fine to Downtown Dubai. Past an hour, the middle passenger will notice.
Lexus ES luggage: what actually fits
Plan on two large check-in suitcases in the boot plus two cabin bags. That covers most couples and solo travellers. A third large case is where it goes wrong: it ends up on the back seat or on someone’s knees, which is no way to start a holiday.
If your group has three or more big cases, or golf bags, book the Mercedes V-Class instead. Asking us which car fits your exact load costs nothing.
Airport runs and routes the ES suits
Most ES bookings are Dubai airport transfers to Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah and the Marina. DXB has no kerbside pickup at arrivals, so your driver meets you inside the hall with a name board and walks you to the car park. We track the flight, and you get 60 minutes of free waiting if immigration or the baggage belt runs slow.
We also send it on the short Sharjah airport to Dubai run. An Air Arabia passenger with one or two bags doesn’t need anything bigger.
Lexus ES vs Toyota Camry vs Mercedes E-Class
| Toyota Camry | Lexus ES | Mercedes E-Class | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passengers | 3 | 3 | 3 |
| Large suitcases | 2 | 2 | 2 |
| Feel in the back | Plain and practical | Soft, quiet ride | Executive, formal |
| Best for | Budget airport runs | Most airport and city trips | Corporate guests who expect a Mercedes |
Choose the Toyota Camry when the fare matters more than the car. Choose the Mercedes E-Class when the passenger is a client and the badge matters. Everyone else, book the ES.
Booking tips
Send your flight number as well as the landing time, so we can follow any delay. Give us the number of large cases rather than “some luggage”. If you need a child seat, mention the child’s age. And if you fly out again later in the week, book both legs in one message so the return is confirmed too.
