Why people book a Maybach with driver in Dubai
The Maybach is the one car in our first class sedan range that Mercedes designs around the passenger behind the front seat. The Chauffeur package is standard, which tells you who it is for. It suits a head of delegation arriving for three days of meetings, or a family principal who wants to sleep on the way from the airport. Couples book it for a car that photographs well without the ceremony of a Rolls-Royce.
If that sounds like more car than you need, the standard Mercedes S-Class carries three people and the same luggage.
The rear seat, in detail
Mercedes stretches the Maybach’s wheelbase 18 cm beyond the long-wheelbase S-Class and puts all of it behind the front seats. Both outer rear seats are Executive seats as standard. The backrest reclines to 43.5 degrees for sleeping and comes up to 19 degrees for working, and an electric leg rest extends under your calves (Mercedes-Benz press release, November 2020).
With the Chauffeur package, when the seat behind the front passenger reclines and nobody sits in front, the front passenger seat slides forward on its own. So the rear right seat has the most room. Put your main guest there.
Servo closing is standard, so a door pulled almost shut finishes closing by itself. Mercedes also offered a 10-litre cooler in the rear armrest, calf massage and silver-plated champagne flutes as options. Ask which ones the car on your date has rather than assuming.
Two guests, two large cases
We list the Maybach for two passengers because that is how it is meant to be used: two people reclined, with space around them. Depending on the rear layout a third adult may fit for a short hop, but they give up the point of the car.
The boot takes two large suitcases and a couple of cabin bags. If an assistant travels with the rest of the bags, they can follow in an SUV such as the GMC Yukon Denali.
Airport arrivals and the Abu Dhabi run
Dubai International has no pickup lane at Arrivals, so every pre-booked car, Maybach included, waits in the terminal car park (Dubai Airports FAQ). Your chauffeur meets you inside arrivals with a name board and walks you to the car. We track the flight, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free. If you’ve booked a paid fast-track or our VIP meet and greet, tell us, so the timing of the walk out is right.
The reclining seat is most use on the long E11 drive to the capital. Our Dubai airport to Abu Dhabi transfer page has the distance, timings and toll notes.
Maybach, S-Class or Rolls-Royce Ghost
| Maybach S-Class | Mercedes S-Class | Rolls-Royce Ghost | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passengers / large cases | 2 / 2 | 3 / 2 | 3 / 2 |
| Extra rear room | 18 cm more wheelbase than the long S-Class | Standard or long wheelbase | 170 mm more on the Ghost Extended |
| Attention on arrival | Noticed by people who know cars | Blends in | Everyone looks |
| Book it for | Sleeping or working on the way | Executives and hotel runs | Weddings and celebrations |
The Rolls-Royce Ghost wins on presence. The Maybach wins on how you feel stepping out after an hour on the road.
Maybach chauffeur briefing: what to tell us
A few details make a VIP pickup run cleanly. Who takes the rear right seat. Whether the seats should be reclined before the guest gets in. Preferred cabin temperature, and silence or music. The exact entrance at the hotel or office, since many Dubai hotels have a main lobby and a quieter side door. Send it with the booking and the chauffeur has it before the day.
