Who books a Mercedes V-Class with driver in Dubai
Most families who land at DXB with five or six people end up in a V-Class, and the reason is luggage. A business sedan takes two big cases. Two sedans mean two fares and a family split across two cars on the E11. Almost every UAE chauffeur firm runs one, so hotel doormen know it on sight. Compare it with the rest of our cars with drivers.
The other regulars are small corporate teams, golf groups, and grandparents who would rather walk in through a sliding door than climb into a tall SUV.
What the rear seats are actually like
In the usual seven-seat layout you get two single seats in the middle row and a three-seat bench at the back. Mercedes also builds a six-seat VIP version with two lounge seats in the middle row, fold-out tables on the backs of the front seats and a footrest. Many UAE operators also fit their own VIP interiors, so layouts vary from van to van.
One quirk we warn every client about: Mercedes put the rear climate buttons in the roof between the front seats, where back-row passengers can barely reach them. Auto Express flagged the same thing in its 2024 review of the facelifted van. Ask the driver to set the rear temperature before you pull away. In August, that matters.
The back bench is fine for adults on a 40-minute hotel run. On the longer drives to Ras Al Khaimah or the east coast, put the tallest people in the middle row.
Luggage in a V-Class: six people, five big cases
Plan on five large check-in cases with six passengers, plus soft cabin bags in the footwells. Drop to four passengers and the boot opens up for golf bags or a pushchair. A folded pushchair counts as one case.
With six people and more than five big cases, book a Toyota Hiace for the larger group or add a sedan for the bags. We’d rather sort that out on WhatsApp than at the kerb.
Airport runs and routes the V-Class suits
At Dubai International Airport (DXB) there is no pickup lane at Arrivals, so the driver meets you inside with a name board and walks you to the car park where the van waits. We track the flight, and you get 60 minutes of free waiting, which covers a slow passport queue and a family’s bags coming off the belt.
The van makes most sense on the long runs. The drive from Dubai airport to Fujairah crosses the mountains to the east coast, and six people in one roomy cabin beats two cramped cars for that trip. It’s the same story on intercity transfers to Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah.
Mercedes V-Class or a big SUV?
| Mercedes V-Class | Kia Carnival | GMC Yukon Denali | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passengers we quote | 6 | 6 | 6 |
| Large cases we plan for | 5 | 4 | 4 |
| How you get in | Sliding doors | Power sliding doors | Hinged doors, higher step |
| Best for | Most bags per seat, lounge layouts | Van space in a lower, car-like body | An SUV arrival |
For a family of five with luggage, book the V-Class. Pick the GMC Yukon Denali when the look of the arrival matters more than the fifth suitcase. The Kia Carnival is the closest alternative if you want a van and four cases is enough.
Booking tips
Send pickup, drop-off, date, time and flight number on WhatsApp to +971 58 181 0789, with your head count (children included) and the number of large cases. We reply with a fixed fare for the V-Class. Ask for child seats in the same message so they’re fitted before the driver leaves.
Corporate groups who need the van all day can book it through our corporate chauffeur service, with the driver waiting between meetings.
