Fujairah airport transfer for the east coast and Dubai

A Fujairah airport transfer from FJR is either a 5-10 minute run into Fujairah City or a longer drive up the coast to Al Aqah and Dibba, or over the Hajar mountains to Dubai, about 113 km to DXB. Your driver tracks the flight and waits at the single terminal's arrivals exit with a name board, and the fare is fixed on WhatsApp first.

How a Fujairah airport transfer works

Fujairah International is a one-terminal airport on the edge of Fujairah City, so the airport part of your trip is short. The drive is the bigger decision: ten minutes into town, an hour up the coast to the resorts, or a mountain crossing to Dubai. Send us your flight number and address on WhatsApp and we fix the fare. The driver tracks the flight and meets you at arrivals with your name on a board.

The pickup is the same one we run across all UAE airports we cover. If you are staying a few days, our Fujairah chauffeur service handles day hire on the east coast.

A small airport with a short flight list

Be realistic about FJR. It has one terminal for passengers and cargo, built for about 2 million passengers a year, and a new runway of over 3 km that opened in December 2022. Federal statistics counted 164,600 passengers in 2025. That was up 170% on 2024, and it is still a rounding error next to Dubai International’s 95 million.

The scheduled list is short and India-heavy. IndiGo started daily flights from Mumbai and Kannur in May 2025, and Kochi was due to follow on 26 October 2026 according to secondary listings. Other airlines appear on aggregator sites and disappear again. Trust your ticket.

A short list also means fewer fallbacks. During the March 2026 airspace disruption, the airport ran SalamAir charters via Muscat for stranded travellers. As of 12 October 2026, some airlines are still running reduced schedules at DXB, and a cancelled FJR flight may have no same-day replacement. We track your flight number, so the driver works to the real landing time, and you get 60 minutes of free waiting after that. Our guide to flight delays and pickup waiting time explains what happens if a delay runs longer.

Where your driver meets you at FJR

With a single terminal there is no wrong building to wait at. Your driver stands at the arrivals exit with a name board, and we send the driver’s name and mobile number on WhatsApp before you land. The airport doesn’t publish a meeting point or a parking tariff, so that message is your reference if you can’t see the board straight away.

If someone in your party needs help from the moment they walk off the plane, our meet and greet arrival service page sets out what we can arrange.

East coast drives from the airport

The table above runs north and south along the Gulf of Oman. Fujairah City is 3-4 km away: the Fort, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the hotels along Hamad Bin Abdulla Road and Al Corniche Road. Kalba, on the Sharjah side of the border to the south, is 11 km.

North of town, the coast road leads to the resorts. Khor Fakkan (a Sharjah town) is 29 km, the Al Aqah beach hotels 47 km and Dibba 70 km, via Port Road and the Dibba-Khor Fakkan Road. The Al Bidya Mosque, often called the oldest in the UAE, is about 40 km north of the city and an easy stop on the way to Al Aqah if you ask for it.

For the Port of Fujairah, one of the world’s largest bunkering hubs, give us the gate or office name rather than just “the port”, and the driver will go straight there.

Crossing the Hajar mountains to Dubai or Sharjah

This is the trip most people book a car for. DXB Terminal 3 is about 113 km and Downtown Dubai 121 km from FJR, usually 80-110 and 90-120 minutes. The usual line climbs out of Fujairah on the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway (E84), a dual carriageway of about 45 km that opened in December 2011 and cuts through the mountains past Wadi Kadra and Wadi Shawka. It then joins Maliha Road (E102) in Sharjah and the E311 into Dubai.

Expect the slow part near the end of the trip. Gulf News has reported heavy Sharjah-to-Dubai congestion at the morning rush, so a 07:30 landing heading for Business Bay takes noticeably longer than the same drive mid-afternoon.

The best crossing depends on the hotel. From Al Aqah and the northern resorts, the Khor Fakkan Road through Al Dhaid is usually the better line to Dubai than coming back south to the E84.

Private cars pay no tolls in Fujairah or Sharjah, and Salik gates only start inside Dubai. Full details are on our Fujairah airport to Dubai transfer page. Plenty of east coast visitors land at DXB instead, and our Dubai airport to Fujairah transfer covers that direction.

Fujairah airport taxi or the IndiGo bus?

Third-party guides say Fujairah Transport Corporation runs metered taxis outside arrivals around the clock, and there is no direct public bus to the terminal. No official airport tariff is published and the guides disagree on the starting fare, so we won’t quote one. For a 3 km hop into Fujairah City with one bag, a taxi is the sensible choice.

IndiGo runs its own bus shuttle timed to its flights, linking FJR with Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Dibba. If the stop is near your door and you are flying IndiGo, take it. A private car makes more sense with children, with a lot of luggage, for a resort the coach doesn’t reach, or when you are on any other airline.

Which car to book for a Fujairah airport transfer

For one or two people going into Fujairah City, a Lexus ES is plenty. The trip takes ten minutes. For the mountain crossing to Dubai with a family and full cases, book a large SUV such as the GMC Yukon Denali, because 100 km is a long time with bags on your lap. Groups heading for a week at Al Aqah are better off in a V-Class or HiAce. Tell us the ages of any children under four, since UAE law requires a child seat, and we will have them fitted before pickup.

FJR transfer questions

Does Fujairah have an airport?

Yes. Fujairah International Airport (IATA FJR, ICAO OMFJ) is on the east coast about 1.9 km south of central Fujairah City. It has one terminal for passengers and cargo and a runway of over 3 km that opened in December 2022.

Which airlines fly to Fujairah airport?

IndiGo started daily flights to Fujairah from Mumbai and Kannur in May 2025, and secondary listings show Kochi from 26 October 2026. Other airlines come and go on aggregator sites, so check with your airline before you book. Send us your flight number and we track it from departure.

Is there an IndiGo bus from Fujairah airport to Dubai?

IndiGo runs a bus shuttle timed to its own flights, linking Fujairah airport with Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Dibba. A travel agent blog says it is free for IndiGo passengers, but the airline has not confirmed that publicly, so ask IndiGo when you book your ticket.

How far is Fujairah airport from Dubai?

About 113 km by road to DXB Terminal 3 and about 121 km to Downtown Dubai. On clear roads the airport run takes around 80 minutes. Plan 80-110 minutes, because Sharjah-to-Dubai traffic is heavy at the morning rush hour.

Are there tolls between Fujairah airport and Dubai?

Private cars pay no tolls in Fujairah or Sharjah. The only charges on the way are Dubai's Salik gates, and only if the route inside Dubai passes one. Your fare with us is fixed before the trip, so you know the total in advance.

Can I get a taxi at Fujairah airport?

Third-party travel guides say Fujairah Transport Corporation runs metered taxis outside arrivals around the clock. No official airport taxi tariff is published and the guides disagree on the starting fare, so check the meter rate before you set off. There is no direct public bus to the terminal.

How long does it take from Fujairah airport to Al Aqah?

About 47 km north along Port Road and the Dibba-Khor Fakkan Road, usually 45-60 minutes. The road runs past Khor Fakkan, so if you want a stop there or at the Al Bidya Mosque on the way, tell us when you book and we will plan the time.
