When a company books a car for a visiting director, the E-Class is usually the first name on the request. International business travellers already know it, so nobody has to explain the car. It sits at the top of our business sedans, a step below the S-Class in size and formality.
Who books a Mercedes E-Class with driver
Executive assistants arranging pickups for senior staff. Consultants with a day of meetings between DIFC, Business Bay and Dubai Internet City. Sales teams on a corporate chauffeur account who want the same standard of car at every stop. And private travellers who prefer a Mercedes but don’t need the size of an S-Class.
The rear seat: room to work
The current E-Class, the W214 generation revealed in April 2023, rides on a 2,961 mm wheelbase, 22 mm longer than the car it replaced. Two adults sit comfortably in the back with space to open a laptop. Three is fine for a city transfer. Privacy glass on the rear windows, where fitted, keeps the sun off and gives a little discretion outside a hotel lobby.
For a phone call on the way in from the airport, the cabin is quiet enough to talk at normal volume. If you need a desk on wheels for a full day, the S-Class is the better tool.
E-Class luggage reality
The saloon’s boot is rated at 540 litres. In practice that means two large check-in cases and two cabin bags, which is the load we book it for. Plug-in hybrid versions lose some boot floor to the battery. If you’re carrying three large cases, or sample boxes for a trade show at the World Trade Centre, tell us and we’ll send something bigger.
Airport runs and routes the E-Class suits
Weekday arrivals at Dubai International heading for the financial district or the hotels along Sheikh Zayed Road are classic E-Class work. Your driver meets you inside arrivals with a name board and walks you to the car park, since DXB has no pickup lane at arrivals.
We also send it on the longer Al Maktoum airport to Dubai run from DWC. From there, most business travellers are heading for Dubai Marina, Business Bay or Downtown.
Mercedes E-Class vs BMW 5 Series
| Mercedes E-Class | BMW 5 Series | |
|---|---|---|
| Current generation | W214, from 2023 | G60, from 2023 |
| Length | 4,949 mm | 5,060 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,961 mm | 2,995 mm |
| Boot, standard saloon | 540 L | 520 L (490 L on the electric i5) |
| Passengers and large cases | 3 and 2 | 3 and 2 |
On paper they’re very close. The BMW 5 Series is slightly longer, and the E-Class has the slightly bigger boot. Choose on preference, or on what your travel policy names. If the guest is senior enough that the car itself sends a message, move up to the Mercedes S-Class.
Booking tips for corporate trips
Give us the passenger’s name exactly as it should read on the board, plus a mobile number the driver can message on landing. If your travel desk asks, the car is RTA-licensed for chauffeur hire. For a multi-stop day, send the meetings in order with addresses and we’ll quote the day as one block of hours.
